Detuned is a magazine focusing on local music in Nottingham.
A strong monochromatic colour scheme was used, influenced by the concept of a purely print magazine. The benefits of print and “archaic” mediums are the limitations - forcing black and white pushes this even further, both in theme and creative layout design.
This also gives an edge, influencing the writing style and content, shaping the whole magazine as something more unique.
Zines, DIY subcultures and historic mediums of print also bled into the brand, featuring customised fonts and stretched type, emphasising the imperfect and personalised nature of an independent magazine.
